Alan Stillman opened the first T.G.I.Friday’s in 1965 in New York City. Allen’s motivation for entering the restaurant industry was straightforward that he was in search of an area to meet women who were single. Allen’s options for socializing were mostly male-dominated, beer-drinking establishments.
This was not the ideal place to meet women who were single. So, with a bit of cash and some money that he had, Allen forged ahead to establish a restaurant where you could enjoy an excellent meal at a location that was warm and welcoming.
